Clear expectations are part of the product.
Will it replace my browser’s built-in sync?
Eureka Sync is being designed to work alongside Chrome Sync, iCloud Safari and Firefox Sync, leaving their settings as you choose. Once live syncing exists, approved bookmark changes may also reach your other devices through those services. That coexistence still needs testing.
Will changes happen automatically?
The first version is planned around preview and approval. Today’s prototype does not detect or apply live bookmark changes automatically, and manual live sync is not implemented either.
Can I keep my work profile separate?
Yes—that choice is central to the design. The preview discovers Chrome and Firefox profiles and saves your selections. Folder choices can be explored with sample data or Safari’s read-only shared tree. Safari profiles share one bookmark library; live connections are still ahead.
What about Reading List?
It’s part of the plan. The Safari reader can already show Reading List links, but cross-browser equivalents and reliable editing are still being developed. Native bookmark exports have different Reading List coverage; the backup guides explain the limits. Offline article archives are outside the initial scope.
Is a backup the same as undo?
They serve different purposes. An HTML export is a copy you can keep for transfer or recovery; importing one may introduce duplicates and won’t preserve every browser detail. Live-sync undo will need its own durable history and checks for later edits. The current undo demonstration uses sample data only.
Do I need an account?
The current preview works locally without an Eureka Sync account. This website is information only: no sign-up, bookmark uploads or tracking scripts. The first release focuses on one Mac; accounts and broader device support may be considered later.
